The New Ward 4
How did we get here?
In response to the changing populations since the 2010 census, the Ward Boundaries of Riverdale Park, MD were updated. This was due to the opening of the Riverdale Park Station (The Station) development which opened in 2017 and has since brought more than 600 new residents to the town. This meant that Ward 1 was overpopulated The Station development was added to the Ward 4 to ensure equal representation of residents across the town.
Where are we going?
Ward 4 faces some unique challenges compared to other parts of town. With the construction of the Purple Line, the long delayed light rail system, the area is dealing with managing traffic and infrastructure changes. Additionally, the town is set to take ownership and responsibility of the roads and trees of Riverdale Park Station which will need to be monitored and managed.
Throughout the town there is a concern around pedestrian and bike safety due to speeding and the running stop signs but it is coming to a head for Ward 4. There is also addressing issues of trespassing and truancy in the Madison Hill neighborhood and how we think about permitting parking zones will need serious attention in the coming years. As the town continues to grow and develop, addressing these challenges will be key to ensuring a safe and vibrant community. This will take everyone's attention to contribute their thoughts and ideas for potential solutions while giving grace for the people working diligently to address these problems.
Can I count on you to Join the Movement and as we work for a better Ward 4?
