Why Local Elections Matter

When we think of voting we first think of the process we endure every four years to pick the next president or governor. Those elections are significant, but most people don’t realize the importance of local elections. Local elections have a significant impact on our community's quality of life and growth. As we approach the Riverdale Park election on Monday, May 1, 2023, let us be mindful of how important this election is. We will all be voting for candidates who will influence how Riverdale Park address issues such as pedestrian and biker safety, sustainability, stormwater management, new housing, and the amount of property taxes we pay.

I am running for the Riverdale Park Ward 4 Councilmember because I believe that pedestrian and biker safety, improving communication with residents, and key infrastructure projects are critical issues for Riverdale. We need to invest in bike lanes, pedestrian crosswalks, safe sidewalks, and technologies that make it easier for residents to stay informed and connect with Town resources. We must incentivize affordable housing and mixed-use developments and promote local businesses and entrepreneurship to create new job opportunities. By prioritizing these issues, we can create a stronger and more inclusive communities.

This is why local elections are important, but I need you to do your part and vote for candidates who prioritize these critical issues. This is how we create a stronger, healthier, and more prosperous community for all. Let's work together to make Riverdale a better place to call home.
